Mr. Alter is an attorney whose practice focuses on zoning, land use, municipal and government law, and litigation. He brings a diverse range of legal experience to his practice, including experience in private practice, the courts, government, and legal advocacy.
After graduating from Rutgers Law School, Mr. Alter served concurrently as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark Ciarrocca, Presiding Judge of the Civil Division, and the Honorable Robert Mega, Presiding Judge of the General Equity Division, in the Union County Superior Court. In this dual clerkship, he gained substantial experience researching and drafting statements of reasons and orders involving complex business litigation, foreclosure, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
While attending Rutgers Law School, Mr. Alter served as a student-attorney with the Rutgers Education, Health & Law Clinic, where he represented and advocated for indigent clients. He also served as Treasurer of the Newark Housing Rights Coalition. Mr. Alter gained additional legal experience as a law clerk with a personal injury and medical malpractice firm, as a legal intern with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and as a judicial intern in the Essex County Superior Court’s Civil Division.
Mr. Alter graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College with a double major in History and Media & Communications. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School in Newark.
