Charles Z. Schalk Appointed Municipal Prosecutor in Raritan Borough

Raritan Borough, NJ – Mauro Savo is pleased to announce that firm attorney and managing partner Charles Z. Schalk has been appointed as Municipal Prosecutor for the Borough of Raritan.

Raritan Borough, a municipality of approximately 7,000 in Somerset County, is a proud and historic community situated just south of the Somerville Circle and at the center of Somerset County’s busiest transportation hub. Raritan has seen significant residential growth over the last two decades and is home to a growing commercial and light industrial base.

Charles Z. Schalk is a trial attorney and managing partner with Savo, Schalk, Gillespie, O’Grodnick & Fisher where he heads up an active litigation practice. The New Jersey Supreme Court has designated Mr. Schalk as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a distinction achieved by only approximately 2% of all practicing attorneys in the State of New Jersey. Mr. Schalk has lectured on his practice areas in a number of different forums including several appearances on network television on panel shows and broadcast news to discuss current legal issues. In addition, his work and writings have been published in several different journals and publications. He began his criminal practice as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger Mahon, presiding judge in Hunterdon County and a well-respected criminal jurist. In the years since, Mr. Schalk has litigated virtually every type of municipal court matter, appearing in courts throughout central and northern New Jersey.

Alexander Fisher Appointed Zoning Board of Adjustment Attorney in East Brunswick

East Brunswick, NJ – Mauro Savo is pleased to announce that firm attorney Alexander Fisher has been appointed as Zoning Board of Adjustment attorney in the Township of East Brunswick.

East Brunswick, a municipality of approximately 48,000 in Middlesex County, lies at the heart of one of New Jersey’s busiest transportation and commercial corridors, with both the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 18 passing through its boundaries. Just miles from Rutgers University and home of the Middlesex County Fairgrounds, East Brunswick is Middlesex County’s suburban crossroads and quite literally the center of New Jersey’s population (which, according to the 2010 census, is located a few hundred feet east of Nenninger Lane near the New Jersey Turnpike). Mauro Savo is a happy to partner with East Brunswick as it looks to address its land use challenges and foster sensible and efficient planning within its borders.

Mr. Fisher, a graduate of Rutgers University Law School in Newark, is a rising star in Land Use and Redevelopment Law, Municipal Law, Construction Law, Landlord/Tenant Law, and Litigation in New Jersey. A former law clerk for the Honorable Fred Kumpf, J.S.C. and a veteran of the chambers of United States District Judges Susan D. Wigenton and Michael A. Shipp, Alex has represented a diverse array of clients in all types of litigation matters and has a burgeoning land use practice. Among other matters, he recently argued the matter of 388 Route 22 Readington Realty Holdings, LLC v. Twp. of Readington, before the New Jersey Supreme Court, a novel matter involving the parameters of a municipality’s obligation to recapture unused sewer allocation. He also recently prevailed in the matter of Hillsborough Towne Center Associates, LLC v. Board of Adjustment of the Township of Hillsborough before the New Jersey Appellate Division, another novel matter involving the interpretation of land use ordinances which include bulk restrictions as a required component of permitted principal uses. He has lectured on Land Use Law and Landlord/Tenant Law for the Somerset County Bar Association. He brings deep and broad knowledge in every facet of planning and zoning law and has guided both municipality and applicant through the complex maze of land use practice in New Jersey.

Christopher Corsini Appointed Open Space Attorney in Hillsborough

Hillsborough, a municipality of approximately 38,000 in Somerset County, is one of Central New Jersey’s premier outdoor recreation communities. The home of the Sourlands Mountain Preserve and the Duke Estate and Duke Gardens, the Township currently has over 10,000 acres of preserved open space. Mauro Savo is a happy to partner with Hillsborough as it seeks to add to this acreage and to continue providing Hillsborough residents with a pristine and livable community.
